I have always been drawn to the healing professions. My mother delivered thousands of babies as a Certified Nurse Midwife and I loved to see the look of joy on the faces of new mothers whenever she would happen upon them while shopping.  My mother had a connection with her patients that I wanted to emulate.  As I was on my path to medicine however, it became clear to me that the paradigm of mainstream medicine was missing something.  Although I was always determined to work in the healing professions, it wasn't until I found naturopathy that my determination met up with my passion to help healing take place. 

 

Naturopathy uses a different model than the medicine most of us were raised with.  Rather than focusing on symptom reduction, it focuses on increasing health and treating the cause of those symptoms. It is a form of healthcare that integrates the scientific knowledge that has evolved over the years with traditional therapies such as botanicals and homeopathy. As a Naturopath, I look to find the cause of the problems patients are facing and encourages patients to reach optimal health through changes in diet, lifestyle, physical medicine, a homeopathic remedy, herbs, and nutrient therapy.

 

These were therapies that that took me to Bastyr University, a school that provided me with foundation of science and the tools of nature.  While there I learned as much as I could about how the human body works and, more importantly, how to tailor the information into a plan for patients.  During my clinical time there, I saw the amazing results that can come about when natural therapies meet western medicine.  This medicine is about helping you reach your version of optimum health. You too can experience the benefits of this method of healing. I very much look forward to supporting you on your path to wellness.

 

I currently hold a license as a naturopathic doctor in the state of Vermont. (License # 099.0092028) NY State does not currently license naturopaths to practice medicine.
